(C45s)Keep The Customer Satisfied/ America by Simon & Garfunkel

 mp3 availablePlay mp3: Side A | Side B
Label: Columbia AE43 Year: 1970
Factory sleeve included
Condition: M- $25.00
Keep The Customer Satisfied/ AmericaNow here's a very rare item... This single was issued only as a radio station promo, presumably released on the heels of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" to promote the single's terrific B side ("Customer"). But it's the flip side of this promo that makes it even more special to me. "America" is one of the very best songs from the duo's previous album, Bookends, but was never on 45 rpm until this promo. An iconic portrait of a young man's yearning to understand his country, it's a classic that's much beloved by Simon & Garfunkel fans. And now it's available for spinning as a single! In a rarity for 1970, this promo presents the full Stereo mixes of both tracks!

Note: This copy comes in a vintage Columbia Records factory sleeve. The labels are nearly flawless, with the only flaw of note being a tiny, unobtrusive "x" inked on the A side label. The vinyl (styrene) looks nearly untouched, grading very close to Mint in appearance. The audio would grade Mint but for a brief amount of "cue-wear" at the beginning of the tracks. ("Cue wear" occurs when a disk jockey spins the 45 briefly with the stylus in contact so as to put the stylus at the desired spot on the vinyl to be ready for next play. On styrene 45s, such as this one, that repetitive contact can damage the grooves, causing a bit of distortion.) The mp3 snippet demonstrates the brief noise that reduces the audio grade to Near Mint.

Note: The jukebox snippet on our website has been edited to splice the last verse onto the first chorus... I can only afford to provide files of a certain length, and this is a song where you really need to hear the ending. :)
