(C45s)Doing It To Death/ Everybody Got Soul by Fred Wesley & the J.B.'s

 mp3 availablePlay mp3: Side A | Side B
Label: People 621 Year: 1973
Condition: M $20.00
Doing It To Death/ Everybody Got SoulFrom a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy. I believe this is only the second copy since opening the store in 2001 that I've run across a copy of this early Funk classic that has genuinely Mint audio... I mean, stone Mint. Have a listen to the mp3 "snippet" of this one, which should be required listening for anyone who wants to know where Funk came from, as one of the touchstones along the path. This is a copy of the red label variant (a purple label variant also exists); I don't know of any value difference between the two, or even which is the first or second pressing (or whether they were issued simultaneously by different pressing plants). Finally, as long as this track is for a 45 in 1973 (over 5 minutes), it's still only about half as long as the endurance marathon that is the 10:04 album version! Note: This beautiful copy has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl (styrene), Audio).
