Jukebox "Snippet" 45s: Chronological List of Site Additions
As I add 45s to our inventory, I pick select 45s to highlight with mp3 "snippets" so you can hear the music yourself. I only record "snippets" of tunes I particularly like, ones I think have been under-played and under-appreciated, or ones that are so rare and wonderful I'll never hear them otherwise. For myself, I keep an iTunes playlist of these "snippets," and that playlist is one I listen to most often. These pages chronicle the mp3 "snippets" I've added to our online "jukebox" in reverse chronological order. You can browse the pages to see what was added and when. Click on the blue "Play" button to play the snippet, or click on a song's title to load the page. Many of these 45 records are still for sale, though just as many have been sold. I hope you enjoy perusing these pages as much as I have enjoyed putting them together!
Talk about a missed boat! By January 1965 when this single was released, the "Girl Group" rock sound had faded with the arrival of the British Invasion and other trends in Pop music. Still, this one needs some recognition: It not only captures the glory of hits like "Then He Kissed Me" but adds an insistent rhythm section that could be the work of a Garage Rock band. This was the Baltimore, Md., group's first chart single, and ended up being their biggest hit as well. I think it's my favorite track of theirs... check out the mp3 "snippet" in our jukebox!
This single flopped commercially, but it finds a compelling groove that really grabs me. Take a listen to the mp3 "snippet" to hear this remarkable flop. :-) It's in great company... there are endless great "flops" out there to find. By the way, this was the single that preceded his biggest hit, "Jeopardy."
I do believe this is the nicest copy of this classic, gorgeous Doo-Wop number I've yet had in the store since opening in 2001! The audio is so remarkable I had to make an mp3 "snippet" for you to enjoy. Simply brilliant sound!

1981, Posse 5010 Genre: Northern Soul, Philly Style
At the end of his chart career, Joe Simon released a few singles on the small Posse Records label, and they're all gems! This one was the last of those chart singles and is perhaps the most sought-after, especially for the terrific uptempo Philly-style track on the flip. I liked it so much right away that I made an mp3 "snippet" for you to hear... Enjoy!
This great song was first released in mid-1967, but didn't do so well on the pop chart. In 1968, after Campbell had a couple of Top 40 singles, Capitol re-released it. The second time around, the tune did better, but still only barely cracked the top 40, amazingly enough. The 1968 release reached #44 on the Country chart and #39 on the Billboard Hot 100. This is a copy of the original 1967 pressing on the orange/yellow swirl label. I love this one so much, I wanted to celebrate the great audio on this copy by making an mp3 "snippet" for you to hear... Enjoy!
