#144 (Marsh 1001)
It Will Stand/ Country Fool by The Showmen

Label: Imperial 66033 Year: 1964
Factory sleeve included
Condition: M- $30.00
It Will Stand/ Country FoolThis is a new, unplayed promo copy from the Louise Neal collection, in its original Imperial Records factory sleeve. These tracks had been released on Minit 632 in 1961, and by 1964 Imperial decided they might be able to do better than the mere #61 peak of 1961, and re-released them on this single. Sadly, the single did worse than in its 1961 debut, reaching only #80. It's ironic when you reflect that "It Will Stand," a truly iconic, essential celebration of "Rock 'n' Roll", never managed to become a hit itself. By the way, I grade "Country Fool" 5 stars in my iTunes library... so be sure to check it out, too! Finally, for the Showmen neophyte who just walked in the room, let me point out that lead singer/songwriter, Norman Johnson, became better known in the 1970s as General Johnson, lead singer for the Chairmen of the Board ("Give Me Just A Little More Time", for example). Note: This beautiful promo's labels have a couple of faint spots of storage wear (see scan). The vinyl and audio are miraculously pristine Mint!
