(C45s)Saturday Nite/ Everybody by Roy Brown

Label: Imperial 5422 Year: 1956
Condition: EX $25.00
Saturday Nite/ EverybodyThis is a promo copy from the Louise Neal collection. This was Brown's first single for Imperial after a long and distinguished career on King/DeLuxe beginning with a cover of "Good Rockin' Tonight" (the hit version was by Wynonie Harris) and including Rockin' RnB highlights such as "Rockin' At Midnight" in 1949. All I can say about this single is that if you love New Orleans Rock'n'Roll/RnB (Fats Domino, Huey "Piano" Smith...), you'll dig the no-holds-barred A side in particular. By the way, this release spells "Night" as "Nite," although retail releases exist with the "Night" spelling. Note: This 45 is among those in the Neal collection that she may have actually played, and which apparently spent some of their life outside a protective sleeve. The 45s in this category may have more noticeable storage wear (ringwear and scuffs/scratches), and the audio may not be pristine due to imperfect grooves. In this case, the cream-colored promo labels are Near Mint, reflecting very light ringwear (see scan). The vinyl's appearance is a strong Very Good, reflecting some light scuffing and possibly tiny scratches; the vinyl also has a very gentle, no impact warp. The audio is affected by light surface noise that's much softer than the music and inaudible except in the quieter passages, when it becomes audible; we grade the audio a strong Excellent overall.
