(C45s)Billy, Don't Be A Hero/ Don't Ever Look Back by Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods

Label: ABC 11435 Year: 1974
Factory sleeve included
Condition: M $10.00
Billy, Don't Be A Hero/ Don't Ever Look BackFrom a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy, in its original ABC/Dunhill Records factory sleeve. Here's a beautiful copy of this Ohio group's biggest claim to fame, which was itself a knockoff of British group Paper Lace's original U.K. chart-topper version. Here in the States, Paper Lace's version lost handily (peaking at #96) to this native-grown cover. (The episode was reminiscent of 1966, when U.S. group Shadows of Knight drubbed U.K. group Them with their version of the classic Van Morrison growler "Gloria." Them version: #93; Shadows of Knight version: #10.) Be sure to check out the B side, where the tuneful Bubblegum Rock continues in worthy fashion (that's what earns the single one star from us). Note: This 45 has light storage wear, which lowers the Label and Vinyl grades to Near Mint even though this is an overall Mint copy (Mint = "New, like new"... see a dictionary). The audio sounds pristine Mint, both sides!
