I'm Not A Plaything/ Why Do You Want To Let Me Go

This is an original promo copy from the Louise Neal 45 Collection. Both sides of this rare 1965 outing by Johnson on the Gordy label are worth seeking out, but "Plaything" is a particular delight. Too bad it failed to catch on at the time... Note: This 45 is among those in the Neal collection that she may have actually played, and which apparently spent some of their life outside a protective sleeve. Like many of the 45s in this category, this one has Near Mint labels with only very light storage wear (see scan). The vinyl, however, grades VG, reflecting scuffing and light scratches. The audio is difficult to grade, because on "Plaything", there are quite a few light "pops" early on, but at a certain point the surface noise goes away and you have very clean, Near Mint audio. I'm grading this audio EX overall. The B side is similar, but the surface noise is less noticeable but more persistent than on the A side, also grading EX.
