Love Is The Drug

Here's a beautiful copy of the special promo for Roxy Music's greatest U.S. hit and one of their very best tracks, which was a #2 hit in their native U.K. The promo has the "long" version (3:58, which appeared on the store stock copies) on one side and a "short version" (3:00) on the other, both in stereo. Of course, it seems like sacrilege to try to cut a full minute off this little pop masterpiece, but I guess four minutes still seemed long back in 1975. The short version basically edits off the last minute, which tragically means the song fades out rather than coming to its perfect, dramatic close, with lead singer Bryan Ferry pushing his distinctive young pipes to the max. Not to be missed! Note: This copy comes in a vintage Atco Records factory sleeve. The labels grade Near Mint overall, but note a small date penciled on the Short side. The vinyl grades very close to Mint. The audio also grades close to Mint, because it's so clean and undistorted, and overall so very close to perfect, with only a faint bit of native vinyl surface noise audible in the first few bars on the Long side.
