Streets of London

This was the first release of McTell's touching (but not at all maudlin) folk song about the lonely and forgotten street people in London. This release is a completely different, and, to my ear, more heartfelt, recording than the 1974 recording, which became a huge hit in the U.K. that year. (It was released in the U.S. on United Artists.) This promo has two versions, both in Stereo: a Long Version (4:30), and a Short one (3:37). Note that the producer on this set is Gus Dudgeon, who was also producing Elton John's first recordings about the same time. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Paramount Records factory sleeve. The labels have a touch of storage wear, but the vinyl (styrene) looks untouched, and the audio sounds pristine Mint!
