From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy with a drillhole, in its original factory sleeve. In this case, the drillhole has been covered up on both sides with an oval gold sticker reading "Certified Gold Standard." When I was a nightclub DJ (lo, many years ago now... in the early 1980s), this song just about tied "I Can't Help Myself" by the Four Tops as the most popular dance number in the club. I call it Bubblegum here, but it's really the Bubblegum side of Motown-style soul—one reason it's so danceable!
