This is a new, unplayed promo copy from the

collection. This extraordinary Soul 45 is another new one on me, and am I hooked, or what!? I noticed that Kev Roberts includes the A side in his "extended" list of the 500 greatest at #584, and "Cross My Heart" is indeed an irresistible Northern Soul-style dancer you'll always be happy to hear at a club. The flip shows the singer's range and power in a more Deep Soul number that's also worth a visit. Note: This beautiful promo 45 has white labels so close to flawless they get a Mint grade. Also Mint after a good cleaning is the incredibly strong, clear audio on both sides, with no surface noise or distortion whatsoever... Just as you'd expect from a single, even one this old, that's encountered no previous needle. :-) The reason the single is graded Near Mint overall is that the record isn't perfectly flat — it has a mild, no-impact warp you don't notice until it's spinning on the turntable; as a result the Vinyl grade is Near Mint (sw) (where "sw" stands for "slight warp).
