Originally released on RCA 7883. I wonder how a guy feels after he writes a song like "Cupid"? Does he
know he's written a standard that will be loved by millions for years and years? Certainly, it helps if he can sing it the way Sam Cooke sang "Cupid!" What a gorgeous voice. Of course, he must have been somewhat disappointed that it didn't even crack the top 10 on either the RnB or the Pop charts here at home. It did better in the U.K.... reaching #7 there, and of course it looms much larger in our cultural memory than its chart performance would suggest. This is a beautiful copy of the black label RCA Gold Standard reissue. It's pressed on translucent black vinyl. The audio on the "Cupid" side is Mint, while the B-side is just shy of Mint.
