This is a new, unplayed promo copy from the

collection. Many years ago I had a source with new, unplayed stock for Gamble 207, and I sold the record on Classic 45s until the well ran dry. :-) I love the early Philly-style Soul dancer on the B side ("Take A Chance") so much I'm amazed to find this beautiful Mint promo copy in the Neal collection! I've added an mp3 snippet so you can share my enthusiasm (or not)! One last thing: Don't ignore the gorgeous sweet-soul ballad on the intended A side. "I Need You So" is an early example of what became a grand tradition of falsetto-led vocal groups in Philly soul, leading to mainstream acceptance in the 1970s with "sweet soul" groups like the Stylistics, Intruders, Bloodstone, Blue Magic, Chi-Lites, Moments, and so many others. (By the way, in the Leland Scott book of Philly Soul, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles get a nod as one of the earliest and most influential architects of falsetto-led, sweet-style soul, even though they were in the Motown fold. The book also explains how Motown style soul was one of the main foundations for Philly Soul.) Note: This record is so close to perfect in every way (Labels, Vinyl, Audio) that it gets an all-around Mint grade. (You will be blown away by the strength, dynamic range, clarity, and totally silent background of the sound on this vinyl pressing!)
