Here's a beautiful copy of this silly, irresistable hit from 1963. It's sobering to realize that this tune hit #1 on both the RnB
and the Pop charts. Of course, I think there was something fishy going on with the RnB chart at Bilozoard that year. If you'll recall, Bilozoard actually discontinued the RnB chart for most of 1964, but had second thoughts and reinstituted it for 1965. "Sugar Shack" certainly isn't an RnB hit, but it does have a certain Buddy Holly style to it that could be considered rockabilly. The B side is straight-on Country/Rockabilly. On the other hand, I see a more significant role for "Sugar Shack" -- as one of the starting points for Bubblegum music, which evolved a few years later. The B side ("My Heart..."), by the way, is a non-album cut. Note: This copy comes in a vintage Dot Records factory sleeve. It has Near Mint labels, and the vinyl looks almost untouched.
