You might think that I, living in the Washington, DC, area, would be able to find some Shrine 45s hiding away somewhere... right? Wrong! U.K.'s Northern Soul fans have long ago raided D.C. for Shrine singles, and this is only the second original I've ever possessed. This particular release is cheap by Shrine 45 standards, which regularly range above $1000 in Near Mint condition, but man is it a good one! The A side is a stand-up-and-take-notice, uptempo Northern Soul-style dancer, and it's this side that fans are mostly seeking out. But fans of Deep Soul will thoroughly enjoy the powerful B side as well. Both sides are credited to "Leroy Taylor And The Four Kays." This Baltimore native later released at least one single without the Four Kays, on Brunswick (U.S.). Note: This copy's labels have a touch of ringwear, grading a strong EX in appearance (see scan). The vinyl grades Near Mint, with just a few light scuffs to note. The A side audio sounds almost Mint, with no distortion and almost no surface noise; the B side audio has more noticeable surface noise.
