Who Do You Love/ Bo Diddley

This is a new, unplayed promo copy from the Louise Neal 45 Collection, in its original Roulette Records factory sleeve. If you're looking for the sound of Rock'n'Roll Wild Man, look no further. In these two Bo Diddley covers, Hawkins displays a snarl in both his guitar and vocals that was almost unknown in 1963. Only artists like Link Wray and some early Rockabilly records hint at where distorted guitar sounds would take Rock in the mid-to-late 1960s. "Who Do You Love" is particularly wild, so I'm sticking a snippet in the jukebox so you can hear what I mean.

Ronnie Hawkins was the original leader of a group called The Hawks which, through several personnel changes, morphed into the group now known as The Band. His biggest hit was a cover of "Mary Lou." Note: This beautiful copy has pristine labels and audio.
