I'm Into Something Good/ Your Hand In Mine

Here's a beautiful copy of Herman's Hermits' debut single, which went to #1 in the U.K., becoming their only chart-topper there. Is this their best single? It's certainly a contender. "Something Good" -- yet another terrific Carole King - Gerry Goffin song Ã--was originally recorded (in a good but inferior version) by Earl-Jean. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage MGM Records factory sleeve. It grades close to Mint in appearance, and the audio sounds Near Mint overall with a touch of surface noise.

One very odd thing I noticed about this particular release, which is not common to all pressings: The trailoff has an etched signature by Tony Romeo. I Googled for some association between Romeo and the Hermits and/or Mickie Most (the Hermits' producer), but couldn't find anything whatsoever. The presence of his signature here is a mystery... perhaps he was just a fan? Certainly, Romeo was responsible for several Sunshine Pop and Bubblegum hits and acts of the 1960s, so I can imagine him being a fan of the Hermits. Among Romeo's writing credits are "I'm Gonna Make You Mine" (Lou Christie), "Indian Lake" (Cowsills), and "I Think I Love You" (Partridge Family).
