With a name straight from early 1960's girl group era, this female soul group's sound wasn't anachronistic at all... it was just terrific early 1970s Motown-inspired soul that was so popular at the time. The group only released a handful of singles, and all of them are prized by collectors of Northern Soul — partly because they're so rare, but also because they're so
good. As is so often the case, it's the B side of this release (not available on the promo, by the way!) that gets Northern Soul fans all fired up... and for good reason! Until I saw the single-song promo pushing "Is That Lovin'...", I assumed "Real Thing" was the A side. :-) Note: This copy comes in a vintage Cotillion Records factory sleeve. The B side label grades Near Mint, with just a faint touch of ringwear (see scan), but the A side has more ringwear and grades EX; the Label grade is therefore an average. The audio on this copy is undistorted and strong, but some unseen environmental agent causes a light, fuzzy "pop" each spin; at times, the music drowns out the noise, but it's audible in the quiet spots. The B side audio is similarly affected, and overall I'm grading the audio EX. The vinyl itself is very clean, Near Mint.
