This recording has an interesting history, apparently starting in 1963 and a version of "Mojo Hannah" that "Tami" Lynn recorded for the A.F.O. label. That version wasn't released at the time, but Jerry Wexler happened on it at some point and found Ms. Lynn singing backup for Dr. John. According to this story, Wexler signed her to Cotillion and had her record "Mojo Hannah" again in 1971. It first came out on Cotillion 44123 in mid-year, marked on the promo as the "Plug Side." However, when the song didn't catch on, Cotillion re-released Cotillion 44123, but with "I'm Gonna Run Away From You" on the A side. The new song didn't do any better than "Mojo Hannah," so the label apparently decided to take another stab with it. In late 1971, "Mojo Hannah" was released again, on Cotillion 44135. No matter, it still didn't get airplay. But you should definitely grab a copy when you can, because Jerry Wexler's instincts were right on, and this is a dynamite version of the song. Note: This promo copy comes in a vintage Cotillion Records factory sleeve. It has the same Mono version on both sides. The vinyl and audio are very close to Mint, as are the labels, which have some tiny faint spots of wear (they don't show up well in the scan).
