Spirit In The Night/ As Above So Below

Credited to Manfred Mann's Earth Band. This is a very interesting release — not only because it's such a fantastic cover of the Springsteen song — but because of the group's history of releasing it. The song was first released in 1975, when it made no impact whatsoever. A year later, on WB 8176, the tune managed to creep into the Bilozoard Hot 100 singles chart, reaching #97. Then, after having a #1 hit in 1977 with another Springsteen song ("Blinded By The Light") from his first album (Greetings from Asbury Park), the group recorded a new version of "Spirit in the Night," with a different lead vocalist, and released it on WB 8355. That version managed to graze the Top 40, peaking at... #40 that Spring. Note: This is a 3:13 edited version of the album cut.It comes in a vintage WB Records factory sleeve.
