Up On The Roof/ Another Night With The Boys

Here's an extremely nice copy of one of the Drifters' best tunes, coming in at #116 in Dave Marsh's list -- the third highest among his many Drifters selections. Note that both sides of this 45 are Goffin-King tunes. The B side appears to be a non-album track. Note: This copy comes with a vintage Atlantic sleeve. It has pristine labels and untouched-looking vinyl. I've graded the audio Near Mint, but note that there is light underlying surface noise.

Critic extraordinaire Dave Marsh devotes 11 spots to Drifters hits in his list of the 1,001 greatest singles of the rock era, most from their 1960s catalog. IMHO, he does gift short shrift to the inimitable 1950s Drifters featuring lead singer Clyde McPhatter. A particularly egregious omission is "Honey Love" (#1 for 8 weeks in 1954). Still, his list does capture most of the high spots:\r\n

    \r\n
  1. #30, There Goes My Baby (1959)\r\n
  2. #68, On Broadway (1963)\r\n
  3. #116, Up On The Roof (1962)\r\n
  4. #193, White Christmas (1955)\r\n
  5. #308, Under The Boardwalk (1964)\r\n
  6. #390, Money Honey (1953)\r\n
  7. #411, This Magic Moment (1960)\r\n
  8. #429, Your Promise To Be Mine (1956)\r\n
  9. #453, Save The Last Dance For Me (1960)\r\n
  10. #775, Fools Fall In Love (1957)\r\n
  11. #802, Adorable (1955)\r\n
  12. \r\n
