The Work Song/ So Lonely

This is a new, unplayed stock copy from the collection, in its original Scepter Records factory sleeve. This rarely seen, uncharacteristic rocker has a distinctive Northern Soul groove — making it perhaps the most desirable Tommy Hunt single for Northern Soul fans. And that's also partly because of the delicious mid-tempo B side, which you definitely won't want to miss. This is the rare early pressing with silver ink (instead of black). Scepter used silver ink until catalog number 1228, according to 45-sleeves.com. Black ink began with Scepter 1229, so most copies of Scepter 1231 were pressed with black ink. This authentic 1962 pressing has "Bell Sound" stamped in italics in the trail-off (in addition to other markings). Note: This beautiful copy grades very close to Mint in all respects. The vinyl has a slight warp that doesn't affect playback or audio. The A side audio is Near Mint as well, because even though the record is new, the A side was very slightly mis-pressed, resulting in a very slight "wow" in the audio (Honestly, it's the sort of flaw that you might not even notice if you weren't looking at the spinning 45.) Because the flaw is so slight and because it doesn't affect the B side, I'm grading the audio Near Mint overall. Have a listen to the mp3 snippet of "The Work Song" from this copy, and judge for yourself. :-) If you're looking for a copy with Mint audio, I'd hold out; but this copy is perfect if you're willing to accept Near Mint audio.
