Here's one of those rare cases where I think Dave Marsh missed a big one that should have been included in his list of the 1001 greatest singles ever made. The sinuous beat and show-stopping vocals on this recording make me stop and pay attention every time! The single has a 3:50 edited version of the album cut. Listening to it, as with many singles of the 1950s-70s, reminds you just how much better the 45 mix sounds, and how anemic the Stereo — which is what appears on reissues of the song.
