Iodine/ True Love Leaves No Traces

This fascinating record is definitely not "folk rock," as I've categorized it. But then again, it's not any of the other categories I maintain either. It's an anomaly, and a very enjoyable one at that. With Phil Spector at the producing helm and also credited as co-writer on both songs, you know the sound is going to owe some debt to his famous "wall of sound"... and it does. But there are elements of jazz, soul, and RnB thrown in, too. Oh, and the record also features backing vocals by Ronee Blakley, who had starred in Robert Altman's movie Nashville in 1975. She both wrote and sang a few of the soundtrack's very best cuts.
