This is a new, unplayed promo copy from the
Louise Neal 45 Collection. This group started out doing Doo Wop, like many black vocal groups, and their first single for Harvey was credited to The Five Quails. By this 1963 release, the group was feeling its way towards a Soul sound like many of their Detroit contemporaries, thanks to Motown and its expanding influence. The A side is a terrific Northern Soul-style dancer, while the flip shows off the group's Doo Wop roots. (By the way, the writer credits on the label mis-spell Harvey Fuqua's last name as "Fugua.") Note: This beautiful promo has flawless white labels, and the the A side audio is also pristine. The vinyl looks untouched but has a very faint "bowl" warp, so I'm grading it Near Mint. The B side audio is also Near Mint, with very light surface noise occasionally audible.
