From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy... pristine mint! It's hard to exaggerate the importance of Buddy Holly on the fledgling rockers in Britain in 1962-63. And this particular record may have been more important even than some of the hits he had in the U.S. and Britain when he was alive. The flip is also a magnificent performance that was previously unreleased when this single came out in late 1962, followed by a full LP of other unreleased music in early 1963, which further fanned the flames of Buddy Holly-dom in the U.K. Here's a great
description of both the single and the LP from a U.K. perspective. It's important to note that Holly continued to have hit singles in the U.K. long after his death, though not in the U.S. This particular single was a top 20 hit in the fall of 1962 over there.
