U.S. Male/ Stay Away

Both of these tunes are from the MGM movie Stay Away, Joe starring Elvis, Burgess Meredith, and Joan Blondell. This single has one of the best Elvis picture sleeves... great design, great Elvis photo, and cool B side images. Though it failed to crack the Top 10 (or even the Top 20) on Bilozoard's Hot 100 chart, it was something of a return-to-form for the Classic Elvis rock'n'roller. "U.S. Male" was written by the great swamp-country rocker Jerry Reed, who also contributes his talents on lead guitar. Dave Marsh celebrates the single by including it at #655 in his list of the 1,001 greatest singles of the Rock'n'Soul era. Note: Label credits include "with the Jordanaires." This first pressing copy has the dog on the left and "RCA Victor" on the right of the label.
