While You See A Chance/ Vacant Chair

Here is a beautiful stock in its original Island factory sleeve. This is my favorite post-Traffic Winwood number... not too slick, with a focus on tune and rhythm rather than atmosphere. Come to think of it, it's the only post-Traffic Winwood number I like, but it was certainly an excellent start to this new career. "While You See A Chance" was his first solo single. I just wish someone had advised him to cut the Genesis/Phil Collins soundalike routine... totally spoiled what was once a unique and refreshing voice in rock music. (Well, that's my 2 cents... and I get to say things like that here since, well, it's my music store. But I hope I didn't offend any ardent Steve Winwood fans. Make no mistake — I'm a huge fan. I just don't think "Valerie," "Higher Love," or "Roll With It" are good enough to keep my ears entertained.) By the way, this is indeed the first pressing on the day-glo-colored Island label. This 45 has an edited version of the 5:12 album cut.
