This is a new, unplayed promo copy. Further evidence that his record company had no idea how to market him, this is yet another variation on the release of these early tracks by John Cafferty. Was he the prototypical Bruce Springsteen soundalike from the "Eddie and the Cruisers" movie? Or was he the head of the Beaver Brown Band, also a Bruce Springsteen soundalike outfit. As you can see, this release has "Wild Summer Nights" as the A side, though most copies--those credited to Eddie and the Cruisers--plugged "On the Dark Side." As Cafferty went on to prove, he was more than a Springsteen soundalike, though it must have been frustrating to watch the thoroughly botched marketing campaign that began his career with Scotti Bros. This release is a test pressing for Scotti Bros. 04107, with the catalog number etched into the trail-off. Note: The A label has a hint of ringwear, not visible in scan.
