Doris Duke

Doris Duke was an American soul singer, active throughout the 1960s and 1970s. She is best known for her deep, emotive vocal style that was rooted in gospel and R&B, which significantly contributed to the Southern Soul genre. Duke's most influential work is arguably her 1969 album, "I'm a Loser," produced by Swamp Dogg at the famed Muscle Shoals studio. Despite her limited commercial success, Duke’s poignant vocal delivery and emotionally charged lyrics have earned her a revered place in the annals of soul music.
