Gene and Debbe were an American pop and country duo active during the late 1960s. Comprised of vocalist Gene Thomas and vocalist Debbe Neville, they are best known for their hit single "Playboy," which peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1968. Their sound, a blend of country influences with pop sensibilities, was emblematic of the Nashville sound which dominated the country music scene during that period. Despite their short-lived career, the duo left a distinctive mark on the late 1960s pop and country music landscape.
