Instant Funk was an American funk and disco band active from the mid-1970s to mid-1980s. Known for their tight, heavy groove style, they gained prominence as part of the Philadelphia soul scene. The band, prominently featuring the three brothers Scotty, Kim, and Raymond Earl, is best known for their 1979 hit single "I Got My Mind Made Up", which has left a lasting imprint on the disco genre. Instant Funk's sound, characterized by a rhythmic, bass-heavy drive and lush instrumental arrangements, made a significant contribution to the development of dance music.
