This was Cale's biggest hit on his own, and his only single to crack the Bilozoard Top 40. (Two others stalled at #42...) Probably his best known
song, however, is "After Midnight," which was a hit for Eric Clapton in 1970. Collector Nerd Alert: This is the rare first pressing of this single, which features the "Superman" logo as part of Shelter Records' own logo without the black "censor" mark typically seen for this release (see scan). Clearly, D.C. Comics wasn't too happy that Shelter thought it could cop the Superman logo as their own, presumably without asking permission?! So lawyers quickly worked out a way to censor the logo without requiring Shelter to re-press its existing supply — stamp a thick black rectangle over the offensive area. Note: This beautiful copy looks new, but I'm grading the Labels Near Mint to reflect a small printing defect on the A label (see small yellow segment on inner label edge), and the Vinyl because it's not perfectly flat (the imperfection gave my tonearm no problems tracking the grooves). The audio itself sound pristine Mint.
