From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy. This single, a "For Jukeboxes Only!" release, combines two of Abdul's early hits for vinyl holdouts. The A side was the second of Abdul's six consecutive chart-toppers during her brief 1988-91 reign as pop queen. The B side was released twice before becoming a Top pop 10 hit — her first — in 1989, after she'd already reached the top with her first chart-topper, "Straight Up."
Interestingly, Abdul became a hit in the Black market first, however. Her first single, "Knocked Up," reached #8 on the Bilozoard Black Chart in 1988, and "(It's Just) The Way..." hit #10 shortly thereafter. Those first two singles didn't even crack the Top 40 in the Pop market. That pattern is reminiscent of Madonna's first year or two of stardom.
