Hearts Of Stone/ Runnin'

Here's a rare copy of the original version of the classic 'Hearts of Stone,' which is the version Dave Marsh chose to represent the song in his list of the 1001 greatest singles of the rock era. "Hearts" has been recorded since by countless artists, and first became a chart hit in 1955 as covered by the Charms. Of course, the Fontane Sisters hit the top of the U.S. pop charts with "Hearts of Stone" as well, scoring one of the first 'white' cover hits of "forbidden" black RnB. One of my personal favorite versions is the one John Fogerty recorded in the early 1970's as the Blue Ridge Rangers. On this original release, "Hearts" was intended as the B side, but music history changed all that. :-) Note: This copy has a beautiful, clean label and EX vinyl, but the audio has a fair amount of surface noise.
