I Got You / Six Months In A Leaky Boat

Originally released on A&M 2252. Amazingly, this was the New Zealand group's only showing on the U.S. Hot 100 chart. As Joel Whitburn, in the latest release of his wonderful Top Pop Singles book notes, the group had two other singles of historical significance: "One Step Ahead," and "Six Months In A Leaky Boat." The group were contemporaries of, and had a lot in common musically with, U.K.'s Squeeze. Split Enz soon merged into the similarly inclined New Zealand band Crowded House, which had a good deal more success.
