Stereo/Mono promo copy. This single was one of the very best moments of 1975, yet simply isn't played enough anymore. I just had to treat myself to a jukebox snippet to satisfy that itch to hear some of it frequently! Twilley & his band were a bit of anomaly at the time, since their music is an amalgam of Rockabilly and Power Pop. Take a listen to the fade-out chorus to "I'm On Fire" sometime, and you'll definitely recognize the influence of the most popular Power Pop band of all time—The Beatles. Then imagine Big Star singing this song... Not hard to do, is it? This copy comes in a beautiful, Near Mint picture sleeve. Note: The Mono side label is Mint except for a small tear (manufacturing error) (see scan), but the Stereo side has small radio-station-related writing and a small, light round stain where a sticker was removed. The overall Label grade is a strong EX, a sort-of average of the two sides. This copy's vinyl has faint storage wear, grading Near Mint. Thankfully, the grooves themselves have preserved pristine Mint audio on both sides... a real treat with this hot mix!
