Red Hot / Flying Saucers Rock & Roll

Originally released on Sun 277. Now here's an essential touchstone in the history of rockabilly... Originally recorded a couple of years earlier by Billy Emerson, this is a song that every rockabilly artist has to play at some point or other. Emerson's version would be called rockabilly, too, except he was black. (Still, that doesn't stop me from calling Chuck Berry a rockabilly artist in my private thoughts...) This version by Billy Lee Riley is perhaps the best-known of the many covers that came out both in the 1950's and later on. This is a new copy of the Collectables reissue with a reproduction Sun label.
