Run Rabbit Run/ Soul Feelin

From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy... pristine mint! Here's a 1960's wild man who gave us a handful of unforgettable singles, the likes of which have never been heard before or since! I'm putting this in Rockabilly, but it's equal parts soul and garage rock as well. Fortunately, Carter has an intensely appreciative, if small, following, so it was easy to find information on this strange fellow. The best writeup I found is on an equally quirky, but excellent, website devoted to reviewing lesser-known singles and LP's by rock artists from the last 40 years or so, called Head Heritage, the brainchild, interestingly enough, of U.K. rocker Julian Cope. The review describes the record that followed "Run Rabbit Run," which was a cover of Presley's "Jailhouse Rock," but get a load of this description, which is perfect for what I'm listening to on "Run Rabbit Run":

Born Arlie Miller, he was a blonde Rock?n?Roller who bore more than a passing resemblance to Heinz, Heino and a far younger Spike Jones all at once while possessing a unique songwriting flair that cut across a ridiculous gamut encompassing rockabilly, garage punk, soul, gospel to country-based Rock?n?Roll and back again.

Out of a small home-built studio in Danville, Illinois, Carter and his crew brewed a rare and unusual musical stew that's truly exciting and sounds fresh even today. Psychobilly rockers like the Legendary Stardust Cowboy and the Cramps care clearly Carter's direct lineage. Note: This is apparently the rarer of two variations on this release, which has the label name--Milky Way--printed as one word.
