From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy. What a perfect, yet surprising, cover of the Band classic this was! I'll bet even Robbie Robertson was surprised, though pleased. Together with Arlo Guthrie's "City of New Orleans" the following year, it provided a neat "bookend" for the brief ascendency of folk rock in U.S. pop music in the early 1970s. Note: This beautiful 45 has Mint labels and pristine sound; the vinyl (styrene) grades Near Mint in appearance, reflecting some light storage wear.
