Here's a beautiful copy of this classic Smokey single (second pressing), which as you'll notice ranks at #46 in Dave Marsh's list of the 1,001 greatest singles. That's pretty darn high! In fact, of the 9 Miracles singles in that list, "Tracks of My Tears" is on top.\r\n
Wondering what other of the group's 45s made it onto Marsh's list? Me too... so here they are, in order of appearance:\r\n
\r\n
\r\n- #46. Tracks of My Tears (1965)\r\n
- #257. I Second That Emotion (1967)\r\n
- #329. Ooo Baby Baby (1965)\r\n
- #356. I Gotta Dance To Keep From Crying (1962)\r\n
- #501. You've Really Got A Hold On Me (1962)\r\n
- #547. Way Over There (1962)\r\n
- #641. I'll Try Something New (1962)\r\n
- #859. More Love (1967)\r\n
- #931. That's What Love Is Made Of (1964)\r\n
\r\n
Undoubtedly, you'll take issue with one or more of these choices, and wonder why a favorite isn't included. Me, I would have put "Going To A Go Go," "Shop Around," and "My Girl Has Gone" somewhere in there. Maybe "Tears of A Clown" as well. :-)\r\n
But I guarantee you, taking a second listen at Marsh's less obvious choices will open your eyes to some great Miracles music you may have passed over before.\r\n
Note: This 45 record comes in a vintage Motown Records factory sleeve. In this case, the audio is very nearly Mint, with just a faint touch of surface noise in the quiet intro to note. The labels look Mint, and the vinyl looks untouched.
