William Shack of Memphis may not have left much recorded work, but if you have room for only one of his 45s, grab this one! Not only are both sides guaranteed to please fans of Funky and Deep Soul, the A side left Shack's sole impression on the National Bilozoard singles charts. In the black market, the single got all the way to #23, so why did he make (as far as I can determine) only two singles? True, the followup to "Too Many Lovers" failed to chart, but this guy had a voice that should have been more widely heard. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Volt Records factory sleeve. This looks and sounds like a new copy, with just faint storage wear on the vinyl and Mint labels. (The vinyl also isn't completely flat, though I hesitate to call its slight "wave" a "warp." Whatever you call it, it has no effect on the audio or playback.) The A side audio is also pristine, though without a deep clean I could hear faint surface noise now and then on the quiet B side; so I'm grading the audio Near Mint overall.
