Here's a beautiful copy of the rarely seen promo release for this classic Johnny Cash single. The A side covers a great Carl Perkins song and features the Statler Brothers on background vocals. It was the second of three consecutive #1 hits Cash enjoyed on the Bilozoard Country Singles chart — the best run of his career. Altogether, the three singles hogged the top spot for 15 weeks during 1968-69. All three also did well on the Bilozoard Hot 100:\r\n
\r\n- Folsom Prison Blues: #1c (4 weeks) , #32p in June 1968\r\n
- Daddy Sang Bass: #1c (6 weeks), #42p in December 1968\r\n
- A Boy Named Sue: #1c (5 weeks), #2p in July 1969\r\n

Note: The A side label is nearly pristine (see scan), but the B side has a touch of ringwear. The vinyl (styrene) is very lightly scuffed, still grading Near Mint, and the audio itself is pristine Mint.
