There was a time in my life when I thought of this song as somewhat quaint and found its frank and honest lyrics a bit embarrassing. With age comes wisdom (or so I hope), though, and now that Johnny Cash is gone I'm awed by the courage it took for him to write and record a song so out of step with his audience's political views. His refreshing open-mindedness was 180 degrees away from the rigid thinking about the "young generation", communism, protest rallies, and the Vietnam War that prevailed among a majority of adults in 1970. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Columbia Records factory sleeve. It grades very close to Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl (styrene), Audio). The audio is free of distortion, very close to Mint.
