Dan Penn, writer or co-writer and producer of so many classic Deep and Funky Soul tunes, lets loose solo-style on this original version of "I'm Your Puppet," a hit the following year for James & Bobby Purify. The B side is a Funky Soul outing that's also worth seeking out. Both sides were produced by Rick Hall and recorded at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals. Note: This beautiful promo copy comes in a vintage MGM Records factory sleeve. The labels have very light ringwear (see scan), grading Near Mint, and the vinyl some very light scuffs, falling just below Near Mint. The audio is Near Mint with just a hint of surface noise occasionally audible and no distortion.
