This is a new, unplayed stock copy from the
Louise Neal 45 Collection. Dave Marsh is spot-on to peg the A side of this classic Deep Soul tune at #290 in his Top 1,001 singles list. The B side is a more Northern Soul outing, also a great keeper. I have only owned two decent copies of this 1962 classic prior to now, and this Louise Neal copy is by far the best I've had yet! What makes it so exceptional is the pristine Mint audio — this vinyl pressing has no surface noise, and the audio is simply divine! Discography Nerd Alert: I'm listing "Water" as the A side because that's the side that charted and is the song fans look for today — it's one of Bell's signature tunes. That said, "Formula" was the originally intended A side, and it got mentioned first in late 1961. But by February 1962, it was clear that radio programmers were plugging "Water," which became the A side by acclamation. 'Nuff said. Note: Although the A label is nearly flawless (see scan), the B label has an abrasion that looks like possible moisture damage. The vinyl itself also looks new.
