The Sounds of Silence/ We've Got A Groovey Thing Goin'

This is a beautiful copy of the duo's first hit (the regular version with overdubbed electric bass & guitar), blessed with styrene grooves that have preserved pristine Mint audio... a real treat! And yes, "Groovey" really is spelled like that on the label! :-)

The classic A side was a track from the duo's first LP, a pure folk endeavor called Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M.. For this single, producer Tom Wilson overdubbed an electric guitar courtesy of Al Gorgoni, plus an electric bass and drums. (The single was also briefly available with the pure-folk version of the song.) The B side of the single appeared on the 1966 LP Sounds of Silence, except with Groovy spelled correctly. With two electrified folk tracks on this single, then, Simon & Garfunkel officially followed Dylan and the Byrds into the widening new realm of Folk Rock.

Note: This 45 record comes in a vintage Columbia Records factory sleeve. It has pristine Mint labels, and the audio sounds flawless! (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
