Why Try/ Little Orphan Nannie

Here's one of the very rare singles by this obscure but influential U.S. band from the late 1960's. This is the group's second single, with two terrific sides demonstrating the group's range. (Anybody else who thinks the lead singer that handles "Why Try" sounds a little like Axl Rose? It's particularly so on the later single "Just A Taste".) Kaleidoscope's sound was wide-ranging and hard to categorize, but always tasteful and masterful. A major influence in the band, and the band member with the most success in the 1970's, was the multitalented virtuoso David Lindley.
