This is a new, unplayed promo copy from the
Louise Neal 45 Collection, in its original King/Federal factory sleeve. This is the first time I've ever seen the term "Funky Soul" used to describe a style of music! Naturally, I'm pleased because "Funky Soul" is, to me, a specific genre of Soul, particularly rooted in the South and led by the genius of James Brown. Here, Bobby Byrd, a prominent member of Brown's band, steps out to celebrate "What It Is!" Note: This beautiful promo copy looks untouched, with Mint labels and vinyl. I wish I could grade the audio Mint, but even though the B side is Mint, the A side is slightly mis-pressed, so there's a light "wow" to the sound that sensitive ears will pick up on. Still, it's good enough to grade Near Mint.
