I Know You Got Soul/ It's I Who Love You

Byrd was the founder and leader of James Brown's vocal group, The Famous Flames. The A side is a wonderful Funky Soul, pre-Funk number. Flip is a terrific Deep Soul number; on the strength of the B side alone, we give this single a 2-star recommendation — our highest! This release is on the black King label. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage King Records factory sleeve. The A side label has very light ringwear, the B side a bit more. The vinyl grades Near Mint, but there's a notable small abrasion near the end of the A side track. The audio is strong and undistorted with very little notable surface noise, grading Near Mint overall; however, the A side does have a dozen or so light "pops" near the end, caused by the aforementioned abrasion.
